Receiving Materials from Other Institutions or Companies

Before receiving materials or other technologies from companies or other institutions you may be asked to sign a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA).  The MTA will define the conditions under which the material can be used.  In some cases the MTA may contain language regarding use restrictions or the source company’s or institutions rights to inventions developed with the material or technology provided.  Such requirements or restrictions and rights may not be compatible with the University of Connecticut’s Policies.  The CSTC will negotiate Material Transfer Agreements for you. Like other agreements an authorized University Official must sign the agreement.  After the MTA has been agreed to and signed by all parties the CSTC will provide you with a copy for your records, after which you may accept receipt of the materials or technology.
